Yes, the scammers and pick-pockets are still present, but show some regular travel caution and this place may well become your favourite Indian city. It did for us, so here's Follow Me East's top five things to do in Delhi.
Our advice: If you don't know what's being prepared, order some anyway. It's an easy risk to take when it costs you a fraction of what you'd pay in a restaurant.
Our advice: Get there just before sunset. It'll do wonders for your photos.
Our advice: Hit up a tour of Old Delhi, where the winding streets and webs of overhead power/phone lines twist and turn you through a maze of architectural change.
Our advice: Skip the Light and Sound show. Whilst it's a neat idea, the execution lacks the production quality to keep you engaged for an hour and you can get all the information it provides and more on the audio tour during the day.
Our advice: Avoid booking tours though the New Delhi-based agency at the Janpath Hotel (As recommended by the Official India Tourist Information Centre). The information was so scattered and unhelpful that it was simply a waste of time. Instead, hit up the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC).
